چکیده

Isolated noncompaction of left ventricular myocardium is a rare disorder of endomyocardial morphogenesis characterized by numerous, excessively prominent ventricular trabeculations and deep intertrabecular recesses. This study comprised eight cases, including three at necropsy. Ages ranged from 11 months to 22.5 years, with follow-up as long as 5 years. Gross morphological severity ranged from moderately abnormal ventricular trabeculations to profoundly abnormal, loosely compacted trabeculations. Echocardiographic images were diagnostic and corresponded to the morphological appearances at necropsy. The depths of the intertrabecular recesses were assessed by a quantitative echocardiographic X-to-Y ratio and

Isolated Left Ventricular Noncompaction Cardiomyopathy diagnosed by Transesophageal Echocardiography

Isolated noncompaction of the ventricular myocardium has often been misdiagnosed as other cardiomyopathies because it is a relatively recently described cardiomyopathy with literature limited to case reports and case series and little awareness among physicians. We are reporting a case of isolated left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy that was misdiagnosed for over two decades.

Isolated noncompaction of the ventricular myocardium is an uncommon disorder characterized by an excessively prominent trabecular meshwork seen in the early period of embryogenesis. The clinical presentation of noncompaction includes a high prevalence of heart failure, thromboembolic events and arrhythmias. Echocardiography is the procedure of choice for the diagnosis of noncompaction. We repor...

Isolated Left Ventricular Noncompaction Cardiomyopathy Accompanied by Severe Mitral Regurgitation

Isolated left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy (IVNC) is a cardiomyopathy thought to be caused by arrest of normal embryogenesis of the endocardium and myocardium. This abnormality is often associated with other congenital cardiac defects. A 21-year-old man presented to the emergency department with worsening exertional dyspnea during the previous 2 months. Two-dimensional and Doppler e...
